Webcams are one of the easiest types of cameras to use to make YouTube videos – and the cheapest. If you’re looking for a budget camera for video making, then a webcam could be the way to go, which is why we’ve put together this guide to the top 10 best webcams for YouTube videos.
So, what are the 10 best webcams for Youtube in 2020? Here’s a break of the best webcams to buy this year.
- Logitech HD Pro C920
- Logitech C922x
- Spedal Full HD
- Logitech HD Webcam C270
- Logitech BRIO
- Aukey FHD
- Dericam Full HD
- Razer Kiyo
- Logitech HD Webcam C310
- Logitech C930e
So now that you know the cameras we’ll be talking about today, let’s take a look at each one in more detail.
1. Logitech HD Pro C920
If you’re looking for an affordable yet top quality webcam for YouTube, then you can’t go wrong with a Logitech camera. Logitech makes a variety of different models, but one of my personal favorites is the Logitech HD Pro C920.
What I like most about this camera is it’s light correction abilities. Even if you were making YouTube videos in a dungeon, this camera would be able to correct the lighting and produce great footage.
Although the camera isn’t that easy to rotate when mounted, it does have a fairly wide field of view (78°) which makes it perfect for almost any set-up.
In terms of set-up, the camera is extremely easy to use and can be connected easily by USB. Once connected, just download Logitech suggested plug-ins and you’re ready to roll.
The only thing that I don’t really like about this model is the plastic lens. However, I didn’t find that the image quality was overly affected by this. In terms of recording quality, the camera easily captures 1080p footage at 30fps which makes for high-quality smooth recordings.
This model of webcam has since been outdated by a newer version, the C922x, but it is still a fantastic camera for this purpose. As this camera is not considered an ‘older model’ it makes for an extremely affordable option and you can get your hands on one of these for less than $100.
However, if you’re keen to get a YouTube webcam with a glass lens, keep reading and check out some Logitech alternatives.
|High-Quality Recording (1080p)||Plastic lens|
|Great Light Correction||Not Easy to Adjust|
|Good Value for Money|
2. Logitech C922x
If you’re a gamer looking to make streaming videos or let’s play videos for YouTube, the Logitech C922x could be the perfect choice for you. Not only is this camera compatible with all the usual operating systems but it can also be used with the Xbox One.
The camera offers superior recording quality thanks to its glass lens and resolution features. The camera is capable of up to 1080p resolution, but it can also be reduced to 720p and a higher frame rate to achieve even smoother footage.
If you haven’t quite got your professional set-up looking great yet, there’s no need to worry. With this camera, you can use the camera’s built-in background replacement features to change the look of the space behind you.
Also, if you’re a super active video maker, this camera’s autofocus will make it easier to achieve clear and smooth footage.
This camera is a great choice for streamers and YouTubers and is extremely easy to use and set up. However, if you were to buy this camera, I would strongly advise you to invest in an external audio recording system or microphone, as this camera’s built-in microphone leaves a little to be desired.
Although the mic is a slight drawback, this is a really great camera overall, and the price is extremely affordable. For less than $100, you can capture really high-quality videos and it has a really good field of view.
|Great Compatibility Options||Audio Recording|
|Background Replacement Software|
|Glass Lens for Added Clarity|
3. Spedal Full HD
This next webcam is perfect for the YouTuber on a budget. It’s an affordable yet great quality webcam that is best suited to people making gaming videos or live streams for YouTube and Twitch.
One of the best features of this camera is the ‘beauty effect’ that helps to make the subject of the video look brighter and more radiant in the shot. In addition to this, the webcam also has a 7 layer glass lens that can help you produce clear and concise video footage.
This camera is also perfect if you’re looking to have more than one person in your videos, as it has an extremely large FOV, around 100°.
If you’re looking for something that is cost-effective and will help you get set-up fast then the Spedal could be a good choice. It comes with noise-canceling microphones included, meaning you won’t need to invest in an external mic if you don’t want to. It also comes in a variety of different colors so that you can match it perfectly to the rest of your video setup.
In terms of compatibility, the Spedal full HD webcam is extremely versatile and can be used for Skype, Facebook videos, YouTube videos, and Xbox.
For the price of this camera, it seems to be a solid and easy-to-use option, however, some reviews on Amazon did claim they had some issues using it with Skype, so if this is a priority for you, a different webcam might be a better option.
|Wide-angle FOV||Some Negative Review About Skype|
4. Logitech HD Webcam C270
This is the third Logitech camera to make the list, as Logitech really is one of the most reliable webcam brands to buy from. The C270 model is slightly older than some of the other models that we’ve already mentioned, but it’s still worth considering if you’re looking for a professional webcam on a budget.
For less than $20, you can get your hands on this that has a range of features that make it great value for money. Firstly, the camera records video at 720p and 30fps, which is the perfect quality for most types of YouTube videos. It also comes equipped with light balancing technology to ensure that all your shots look well lit and crystal clear.
The webcam is really easy to set-up as it has a built-in universal clip that allows you to clip it to the top of your monitor, or anywhere else you’d like. In addition to this, it has a five-foot-long cable, meaning that you have the flexibility to play around with the camera position to achieve the perfect shot.
Like many of the other cameras on this list, this webcam is also equipped with noise-reducing microphones to pick up your sound clearly. However, if you’re looking for better sound quality than what the camera can provide, purchasing an external mic is probably a good idea.
The only real drawback with this camera is that the focus can’t be adjusted manually, but with the autofocusing technology, this shouldn’t cause too many problems when recording.
|Auto-focusing and light balancing||Focus can’t be adjusted|
|Long cable||Not 1080p|
5. Logitech BRIO
The Logitech BRIO is one of my personal favorites when it comes to webcams for YouTube. Unlike most of the webcams on this list, this camera is able to capture superb 4K footage, which is as good as any YouTuber would need to produce great videos. Like most of the other webcams we’ve mentioned, the BRIO has built-in auto-focus, to ensure clarity in all your videos.
In addition to this, the BRIO is highly adjustable so that you can capture shots exactly how you’d like to. It has 5X HD zoom and a range of FOV options that will allow you to select the perfect frame for your shots.
The Logitech BRIO also comes equipped with a premium glass lens that helps to take image quality to the next level. It also has built-in ‘Rightlight 3’ technology which helps to adjust the exposure and contrast of your videos to achieve the perfect light levels, no matter where you are filming.
The webcam is compatible with most modern operating systems such as Windows 10, and even MacSwift Capture. It’s very easy to set-up and you can basically just plug it in and start recording.
The main drawback of this camera is the price. Although its a much more advanced and superior webcam to many of the other models offered by Logitech, it also costs a lot more. In my opinion, you get what you pay for, and I would say that this camera is really worth the investment if you want to achieve professional-looking results, every time.
|4K Capabilities||Higher Price Point|
|High-Quality Glass Lens|
6. Aukey FHD
The Aukey FHD is a great option, as it offers both high-quality resolution and value for money. The webcam is capable of up to 1080p resolution. This makes it ideal for YouTube videos and live streaming on sites like Twitch. One of the outstanding features of this is the stereo quality microphone which provides high-quality audio.
This webcam is an extremely easy to use option, as it doesn’t require any downloads or driver install to start using. All you need to do is connect the webcam via the USB port and start using it.
The camera is also very easy to mount and can be clipped onto the top of a flatscreen monitor with ease. It also has a foldable design that allows you to easily pack and transport the webcam whenever you need to.
This camera has a high-quality lens and also benefits from fixed focus technology. This can help to keep you in focus from up to 5 meters away. Aukey also produces a slightly newer design that has higher resolution, but it’s a little more expensive, however, it could be worth checking out if higher resolution footage is your priority.
Overall, this camera has a great reputation and is available for an affordable price of less than $40. However, some Amazon reviewers did complain that there were some issues with the fixed-focus technology. It may be worth checking some more reviews and warranty information before you make a firm decision.
|Good Value For Money||Potential Focus Issues|
|Easy to Use|
7. Dericam Full HD
The Dericam Full HD live streaming webcam is a super cheap and well-made option for anyone looking for a great webcam at a rock bottom price. For less than $25 you can get your hands on an HD webcam that has a range of great features that make it worth every penny.
While you can’t expect an amazing glass lens or 4K resolution, this webcam is still capable of capturing HD footage that would be sufficient for most types of YouTube videos. It has a 75° wide-angle lens which means it will work for almost any set-up.
It’s ‘plugin and play’ meaning that you can simply plug it into the USB and start recording. If you’re new to using cameras and webcams, then this could also be a great choice.
Despite its low price the Dericam Full HD live streaming webcam still benefits from light correction features meaning you don’t need to worry about dark and shadowy footage.
The camera also has a built-in noise-reducing microphone that can pick up your voice from up to 30 feet away. However, if you find that you’d like better quality audio, the low price means that you’d have more money left over to invest in a higher quality external mic.
Overall, this would be my top pick for any beginners who want to have a go at YouTube video making or live streaming, without investing too much money in high-tech and expensive camera equipment.
|Easy Set-up||Not 4K or 1080p|
|Light correction footage|
8. Razer Kiyo
In need of more light in your recording room? This is the webcam for you. Whilst most of the cameras on this list have some good light correction features, the Razer Kiyo is the only camera that comes equipped with a ring light. A ring light can help you illuminate your face. It’s perfect for anyone considering making beauty vlogs or tutorials.
The Razer Kiyo was designed specifically with video makers in mind and allows you to record at 1080 resolution at 30 fps.
In addition to all of its cool features, the Kiyo is made by the brand Razer. This brand is very popular in the YouTube and Twitch scene. They make a variety of gadgets such as microphones and lighting to create perfect streaming set-ups.
What I like most about this camera is that you can easily toggle between auto and manual focus options to create the perfect shot. These types of adjustability features can make it a lot easier to manage your video recordings.
Like most other webcams, it’s really easy to set up and use, and you can simply plug it in straight out of the box and start using it.
Although the webcam does have a built-in microphone, it could be worth investing in an external mic for use with this camera. Some reviewers on Amazon complained that the sound recording can sometimes sound echoey depending on the type of room that you are shooting in.
Overall, I think this is a great little webcam that’s slightly more professional and advanced than some of the more budget options on this list.

9. Logitech HD Webcam C310
Next up we have yet another webcam from Logitech, the C310 HD webcam. This is another highly affordable webcam that does a great job considering the price point.
It’s able to record in full 720p at 30 FPS and uses something called ‘Fluid Crystal Technology’ to improve the quality of the footage. I also found that the footage I record on this webcam always looks very smooth, despite the limited frame rate, which is probably thanks to the solid image processing system.
Another thing I like about this webcam is the automatic lighting correction, which adjusts the brightness of the feed as you record to adapt to any lighting changes. This is especially useful if you’re recording in a poorly-lit or dim room.
It comes with an adjustable universal clip that allows you to stick it on to pretty much anything. You can attach it to your laptop, desktop monitor, wardrobe, or anywhere else you might want to use it. It also has a hinge that allows you to make slight adjustments to the angle of the camera once you’ve attached it.
It’s a shame that it can’t record in 1080p, but as far as affordable webcams go, it’s a great entry-level model. If you just want something cheap that still delivers HD footage, this is the way to go.
|Basic HD recording (720p)||Can’t record in 1080p|
|Face tracking & light correction technology||Limited frame rate (30fps)|
|Very affordable||Plastic lens|
10. Logitech C930e
Last but not least we have the Logitech C930e – the final product on our list.
What makes this specific webcam interesting is that it’s been designed specifically for business use. In fact, Logitech calls it a ‘business webcam’. However, that’s not to say that it isn’t great for YouTube too.
The fact that it’s optimized for business calls actually means that this webcam offers superb, professional-level quality, which is great for anyone trying to record professional-looking YouTube videos.
It has some awesome stand-out features, including a 90-degree field of view that allows you to get more of your background in the shot, 4x digital zoom; for when you want to get up close and personal, and pan and tilt functions that allow you to get super specific about how you set up the frame. Basically, everything a video maker wants in a webcam!
Thanks to the camera’s RightLight™ 2 Technology and precision lens, your videos will come out stunningly sharp in any lighting conditions.
Another handy thing about this webcam is that it doesn’t demand a lot of your system’s resources to use, which means it’s less likely to cause your computer to slow down while you’re recording. Again, this is important for anyone making YouTube videos as you might be recording and editing at the same time.
If there was one thing I could change about this webcam it would be the microphone, which isn’t all that great. But hey, you can’t have it all, right? I’d recommend purchasing a microphone separately if you buy this webcam and syncing up the footage during the editing stage.
|Extended FOV||Poor-quality microphone|
|4x digital zoom|
Best Webcams For YouTube – Buyers Guide
When choosing the right webcam for your needs, there are a lot of different factors to take into account. Below is some information about what to think about when buying a webcam for YouTube:
The main thing to think about when choosing a webcam is Video quality and resolution. YouTube videos can now be uploaded in 4K, but there aren’t many 4K webcams available. The next highest resolution is 1080p and a lot of webcams will be capable of this resolution.
However, you may find that a camera with a lower resolution is more suited to you because they tend to be a little cheaper, and still offer OK image quality. It all comes down to the kind of videos you plan to make.
If you’re just going to be making gaming YouTube videos, then a lower resolution camera may be OK for you. However, if you plan on making tutorials or blogs where image quality could be really important, then it’s probably best to go for a camera with at least 1080p.
When using a webcam, lighting is extremely important. If the room you are recording in is too dark, you may find it difficult to capture really high-quality footage. In the same way, too much light, or strange lighting angles can also affect the video quality.
When choosing a webcam, you should think about the type of lighting you are going to be using and make a choice accordingly. If you think that the lighting in your room might not be great for recording, then it could be worth choosing a webcam with light correction features.
In addition to this, you may want to choose a camera that has a built-in ring light. Not many webcams have this feature, but some do, and ring lighting can be really good for making vlogs and tutorials, especially beauty videos.
Most beauty YouTubers have a ring light that helps to illuminate their faces and gives them a distinctive ring shape reflection in their eyes. If you haven’t got the budget to invest in a full lighting set-up then a camera with a built-in ring light can be a great alternative.
Auto-focusing is another feature that you should try to look out for when buying a webcam. This feature enables the camera to detect the focal point in your shot – usually your face – and track it to remain focused throughout.
Without auto-focus, you could have problems with blurriness and bad image quality, especially if you are moving around a lot, or live streaming.
Most webcams come equipped with this feature, however, the cheapest webcams on the market don’t tend to have it, so make sure to check the specifications of your chosen camera to see if it does.
Something else to take into account when choosing the webcam is the type of the camera lens. Some cheaper models of webcams will come with a plastic lens, and whilst these are functional, plastic lenses can cause the image quality to drop significantly.
If you want a camera that will give you great image quality, its best to choose a camera that has a glass lens. Many of the cameras on this list have glass lenses, but it’s always worth double-checking before you buy.
If you’ve read through the full guide, you’ll already notice that webcams can vary drastically in price. In some cases, webcams can be a cheap alternative to a professional style camera for making Youtube videos.
However, some webcams have been designed specifically for streamers and YouTubers, and therefore, the price can be much higher. Deciding on a budget before you start shopping can really help you to narrow down your search and find the absolute best camera for your budget.
The last thing that’s worth a mention is compatibility. Whilst most webcams will be compatible with modern computers and even some other devices, there are some exceptions. If you’re thinking about using a webcam with a device that isn’t a computer, it’s a good idea to check the compatibility information first.
In some cases, certain cameras are only compatible with one operating system. This can be a problem if you don’t have the operating system for the job.
So, there you have it, a complete guide to the best webcams for Youtube in 2019. Like I mentioned throughout this article, webcams can be a great choice for YouTubers, but it all depends on the kind of videos you wish to make. In some cases, other types of cameras such as DSLRs and vlogging cameras may be better suited.
